The Perfect Holiday Coat

The Perfect Holiday Coat

Besides the summer, the holiday season is my favorite time of year.  Between the holiday parties, the shopping, the food, the cheesy holiday movies, and the music, there is always something going on that cheers me up.  It is officially November which means it’s time to change your wardrobe to colder temperatures and to start shopping for gifts for the holidays.  One of the top items I recommend to anyone this season is this WOOL-BLEND COAT from Old Navy.

Coat //  Sweater // Jeans // Booties

FOUR reasons why you should add it to your wardrobe:

  1. It is WARM and LIGHT.  No need to strip off your coat while grocery shopping or running errands.
  2. It comes in regular, tall, and petite sizes.
  3. It comes in 2 colors,
  4. It is under $100 (Old Navy always has sales going on and you can probably get a discount if you shop at the right time)

Coat //  Sweater // Jeans // Booties

This everyday neutral coat can make any outfit look classy.  I had reservations that this coat would not be warm enough,  however I was wrong.  It was about 35 degrees outside when I wore this coat walking around downtown Franklin and it kept me warm! I love how it’s not too bulky and I can fit thicker sweaters underneath it.  It really compliments any piece. I am wearing a TALL SMALL as a reference.  This coat of one of MANY cute styles.  Check out their other outwear options HERE

Coat //  Sweater // Jeans // Booties

I love adding a simple turtleneck to this coat. The turtleneck I am wearing is another MUST for the holidays.  I first bought the ivory to see if I would like it.  After wearing it out for the first time I was sold.  The material is so soft and I love the loose and cozy look.  I love how the turtleneck does not choke me.  It is turtleneck is more of a looser fit.  I am so obsessed with this sweater that I bought it in two other colors a few days after I wore it!   The ripped knee jeans I am wearing are also from Old Navy.  I bought them last year, but here is a similar and cheaper pair.   The last item I am wearing are these brown suede booties from Sam Edelman.  They were another purchase I got on sale during their off season, but I found an identical pair HERE.

Coat //  Sweater // Jeans // Booties  // Bag

I would highly recommend grabbing these items while you can.  They have sold out and restocks a couple times.

Lace up Sweatshirt Dress Ft. Six Hearts Boutique

Lace up Sweatshirt Dress Ft. Six Hearts Boutique

Happy Halloween everyone! I always love dressing up and seeing all of the creative outfits. This year I was a fighter pilot (not as creative as my previous years, but let’s me honest, hanging out with friends and candy are the main part of why I like to dress up. This year I did all of my halloween festivities the weekend before so I am planning on watching scary movies (more like Stranger Things) at home on the actual day of halloween instead.  Even though I dress up a lot on my blog, I am really a oversized sweatshirt with leggings kind of girl.  Tonight I chose to wear this cozy lace up hoodie dress from Six Hearts Boutique

Black Lace Up Hoodie Dress (Wearing a small) // Suede Over the Knee Boots

Now, I know what y’all are thinking, “that is NOT loungewear with those boots Ashley” .  Yes I know, but that is what makes this hoodie dress amazing.  Is that it can be dressed UP or DOWN.  To dress it up all you need to do is throw on a pair of over the knee boots and to dress it down thrown on some tennis or a large pair of comfy socks.

Black Lace Up Hoodie Dress // Suede Over the Knee Boots

If you haven’t been looking at winter fashion trends, over the knee boots are a must have.  I love wearing them with jeans (to add an extra layer of warmth), but I love them even more with a dress.  The key is to wear the right length of dress with OTK boots. You don’t want your dress to overlap with your boots (that just looks awkward).  You to need about 4-8 inches of leg between the boot and the dress.  I love this because dresses typically run short on me anyway and the OTK boots give a little more coverage.  My favorite brands of over the knee boots are Steve Madden and Target.  Right now Steve Madden is having a 25% off sale and target is have a $10 offer! Another of my favorite places to find over the knee boots are DSW or Nordstrom.   The boots I am wearing run a little small so I would order a half a size up.  Click HERE to get the boots I am wearing.

Where I shop for Over the knee boots:

DSW Over the Knee Boots

Target Over the Knee Boots

Nordstrom Over the Knee Boots

Macy’s Over the Knee Boots

One of the biggest reasons why I love Six Hearts Boutique is that the clothes are affordable and cheap.  The website for Six Hearts Boutique is currently under maintenance, but you can check out the cute styles on either Instagram or Facebook.

Happy Shopping!

DressUp Favorites (knit kimono)

DressUp Favorites (knit kimono)

Almost a year ago today I had some time to spare in Downtown Greenville, SC and I came across a cute boutique called Dress Up.  I was not surprised when I came home and discovered that they have 20 locations in the South.  Although I am sad that there are none in the Indy area, I am glad that they are slowly making their way up north.  The closest location is in Nashville.   Continue reading “DressUp Favorites (knit kimono)”

Olive Green Duster Jacket

Olive Green Duster Jacket

I have had a major obsession with jackets this past month and I don’t think it is going to get any better coming into the fall season.  The olive green duster I am wearing above is a steal from one of my favorite online stores, BOOHOO.com.  I had to size up to a 6.  I like how it is a lighter material so I can layer it with another jacket as the temperature gets colder.  They have plenty more duster options HERE. All of their items right now are 50% off and most items with the discount are under $30.   Continue reading “Olive Green Duster Jacket”
